Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has passed away aged 24.

Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in the 2024 NFL Draft and appeared in 18 games for the team, with four starting appearances.

He scored his first touchdown in the Tuesday game to the Arizona Cardinals when he recovered a blocked punt.

"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and part of our family," the Dallas Cowboys said.

"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his partner Catalina and his loved ones."

Kneeland was picked by the Cowboys with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 draft after his college career for Western Michigan University.

His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the passing of a player who "gave his all" into each opportunity.

"I watched him fight his way from a aspiring young man at Western Michigan with a dream to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley commented.

The NFL stated it is "deeply saddened" by the tragic event.
