Ex- British Broadcasting Corporation Specialists Face Parliamentary Inquiry After Assertions of Partiality in Leaked Memorandum
We begin with inquiries from Conservative lawmaker Caroline Dinenage, who chairs the committee.
She opens by providing context to the disclosed memo written by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.
"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation tilting toward one side or the other, I simply desire it balanced, fair and equitable," he says.
When asked if he thinks the British Broadcasting Corporation is systematically partial, he replies: "Absolutely not. Let's be clear, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation does is top-tier - both documentary and fictional content."
But he adds: "There remains significant effort that must be undertaken at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
A further ex-adviser BBC specialist questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, remarks she takes the BBC with great importance and that it maintains a "continuous process and vigorous discourse" on fluid and multifaceted topics.
"Was the BBC willing to engage in a thorough dialogue and exchange and take action?" she asks herself. "In my view, yes they were."
