Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
