The beloved police drama AC-12 will make a comeback for its 7th installment, confirmed by the broadcaster.

A brand new six-part season created by Jed Mercurio starts production in Northern Ireland in the coming months, as confirmed by the network.

The actress shared her enthusiasm about the comeback, stating she was "thrilled" about the series' return. Her co-star remarked, "How wonderful it is to know that the Three Amigos will be back filming together next year."

The last series concluded in 2021 with a finale that drew in over 17 million viewers. Rumors about a new season have been widespread ever since, but official word only arrived this week.

Fresh Obstacles for The Team

Series seven will open with the anti-corruption unit no longer existing and rebranded as the new police oversight body, according to production details.

Martin Compston's character, Kate Fleming, and Ted Hastings remain tasked to tackle misconduct within the law enforcement.

Their work "has never been more difficult", and under these circumstances, the trio are assigned their "most delicate case so far."

A new character, Det Insp Dominic Gough, described as a charming officer known for takedowns of criminal networks, is accused of misusing his authority to become a offender.

Line of Duty premiered in 2012 and evolved into a highly successful TV dramas of the past ten years, featuring notable actors such as Kelly Macdonald.

Broadcasters has not yet announced exactly the upcoming series will premiere.

The conclusion of season six brought the long-running storyline about the hunt for criminal mastermind known as "the mysterious H" to a close, and producers indicated at the time there were no intentions for additional seasons.
