Raducanu advanced to round three in three of the four Grand Slams in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events of the year due to a medical condition she has been battling over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

Her upcoming training will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

Raducanu required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was noticeably restricted in the final set against Zhu owing to back discomfort that has troubled her at times this year.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally after more than three years in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.

She held three match points before losing to Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

Raducanu won twenty-eight matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

She mentioned that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
