The star has given the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to protect the United Kingdom's grassroots concert spaces.

He was given the award on mid-October as his third album his work was declared the top album of the last 12 months.

He has decided to give the cash to the MVT, in appreciation of the essential function grassroots venues played in his beginning days.

"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it weren't for all the gigs I did around the North East, and beyond, when I was starting out," stated the artist. "These locations are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these venues have shut down – approximately 16% of the total UK scene.

In the last year, major artists including Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to support the industry, by including a small levy to their admission fees, which benefits independent venues.

Sam Fender also took part, collecting more than £100,000 on his recent tour to support numerous small stages across the UK.

The donation helped locations that were facing possible closure due to issues arising from water damage, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and neighbor objections.

Some locations obtained financial assistance in upgrading facilities and technical equipment that helped artists and audiences.

"The notion that revenue from shows in big venues supports the local stages, where it all starts for performers like me, is just sensible," the star has stated.

Fender is among several artists to contribute his award winnings to worthy causes.

When Pulp earned the prize in 1996 for their album the album, frontman Cocker stated that the act would give their winnings to the non-profit War Child.

In 2002, musician she shared her prize between multiple organizations, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I contributed a grand to my local community centre, to their classes, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they needed updated gear," Ms Dynamite explained to the media.

Previously, Ezra Collective contributed their funds to the youth organization that developed their act, as well as other independent music bodies.

Additionally winners that year M People contributed their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was identified with the disease.

"Receiving the award was ample," stated vocalist Heather Small. "The cash was the extra but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the cake. So our winning affected somebody else's life."

In the past week, the MVT revealed it had rescued a couple of grassroots venues in that region, by placing them under local control.

The Joiners in that area and the second in that location were acquired under the community ownership scheme, which is backed by Arts Council England and supporters who acquire "shares" in the venues.
